An introduction lesson to Spanish Culture (PPT is fully in English so can be adapted to Spanish), aimed at Year 7,8,9,10 students. Aims to improve the cultural awareness of Spain, in regards to the country’s society, history, geography and culture. Students are encouraged to look for similarities and differences across Spain and other European nations, with several discussion points available. The depth of these discussions varies depending on the year group you are teaching. The lesson also provides students with a wider knowledge of how influential tourism is - its positives and negatives. There is a quiz on Spain, with answers provided, that can take up between 10-30 minutes depending on how you utilise the resource.

A lesson that can be used for a variety of different subjects, that aims to increase cultural awareness amongst students as well as helping their literacy. Can be tailored for any year group. Includes: a presentation to give to students on Norway, Sweden and Denmark. Whilst the teacher is presenting, students should complete a mini-fact file based on what’s being said. The information given is based on cuisine, public holidays and education. an article from The Guardian that has been cropped and edited so students read information on traveling through Scandinavia which raises their cultural awareness, and use it to create a leaflet. This boost students’ understanding of how pieces of prose are constructed.

A revision lesson aimed at A level students studying Bonjour Tristesse for the paper 2 exam of AQA’s new spec. Includes a PPT that explores: recapping of the key themes the book as an existentialist text the book as a psychological depiction the resemblance between the author and the protagonist the critical reception this book was subjected to the dilemma and the choice of Cecile Activities include translation and discussion throughout. The main activity is based around essay writing. The students have 10-15 mins to plan a response to an essay question done as either HW, an assessment or in another lesson. They are then given an exemplar response (included) to that question to get them familiarised with the mark scheme, etc.

Aimed at A level French students studying ‘Un Secret’ for paper 2, the resource includes: A revision PPT with tasks and extension tasks to cater to students of different abilities. The PPT focuses on revision mainly, with there being a brief summary, a biography on the author, a summary of main characters, a recap of the main themes, information on historical context, the relevance of time and space in the book, a comment on the structure of the book, a family tree so students can understand character relationships better, a comment on the cinema adaptation of the book. There is a translation from French into English, from a literary critic’s blog on the film. This is also useful to the students doing the AS exam as translation will be required. There is an example of an essay written in an exam style the students will need to copy provided, as well as a mark scheme. This will enable students to get to grips with the quality of writing they need to be producing for the exam. There are tasks set in class on this resource, but it can be adapted based on your students’ weak points.
